High school baseball rules are established by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). A high school rule book will most likely contain the rules published by this association. The association is interested in much more than just publishing rules though.
High school baseball rules are almost identical to MLB rules with a few exceptions. The official high school rule book sets rules, but is also interested in establishing conduct of behavior that is professional and tied to scholastics and safety considerations. Baseball rules in high school are written so that young baseball players understand that ethical conduct is held in the highest regard.
The baseball rules of high school written by the association can be purchased online. They must be purchased because they are considered copyrighted material. But you can access other high school baseball regulations if you desire.
One of the advantages to belonging to the National Federation of State High School Associations is the federation can issue play interpretations. This can be very useful for coaches attempting to teach the many different plays to young baseball players.
The 2007 high school baseball rules published in the High School Case and Rules book are used by both USA high school and baseball played by high-school aged players. Having the rule book makes it possible for different teams to play each other on a level playing field. Otherwise, it would be impossible to come to agreement on acceptable plays and behavior.
Included in the rule book are the high school baseball bat regulations. In high school a wood or metal bat can be used. The NFHS established standards for bats that include weight, diameter and differential limits. The goal is to insure that performance of wood and metal bats are similar.
High school baseball teams are coast-to-coast. They use the NFHS rules and add their own regulations particular to their school. You can find the rules and regulations for a variety of schools in different regions.
