High School Baseball Rules

High school baseball rules are established by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). A high school rule book will most likely contain the rules published by this association. The association is interested in much more than just publishing rules though.

High school baseball rules are almost identical to MLB rules with a few exceptions. The official high school rule book sets rules, but is also interested in establishing conduct of behavior that is professional and tied to scholastics and safety considerations. Baseball rules in high school are written so that young baseball players understand that ethical conduct is held in the highest regard.

The 2007 high school baseball rules published in the High School Case and Rules book are used by both USA high school and baseball played by high-school aged players. Having the rule book makes it possible for different teams to play each other on a level playing field. Otherwise, it would be impossible to come to agreement on acceptable plays and behavior.
