National League Baseball

National League baseball began in 1876. It was created 24 years before the American League. Together with the American League they form Major League baseball. The National League teams are divided into 3 divisions: East, Central and West.

The National League is made up of the following 16 baseball teams.


The National League baseball teams play the American League baseball teams during regular baseball season. Each team plays 162 games during the season.

The National League and the American League were organized as Major League Baseball in 2000. The consolidation virtually created a single league, but the separate leagues are maintained with separate identifies for purposes of competition and because of tradition.

The National League baseball teams play up to 18 games against the American League as part of the 162 per team season games allowed. The regular season games are those leading to the Championship games including the World Series.

Each team maintain 24 National League baseball players as a minimum. The season runs from late March until October and is grueling by anyone's standards.

National League baseball has an interesting history steeped in tradition. Great teams like the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs are part of American history.
